  • CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – A crowd of more than 50 people bowed their heads for a long moment of silence in front of the Old Courthouse, Thursday, Sept. 11. A gentle breeze swept through the area, and the flagpole in front of the courthouse rang as the halyard slapped against the metal. Traffic seemed to murmur as it passed the historic courthouse on Mechanic Street. It was a beautiful morning, said Howard Berchtold Jr., trial court administrator, during the county court’s 9/11 remembrance ceremony. Just as it had been more than a decade earlier when terrorists attacked America.
